Gas Garage & Shop Heaters

A 100 lb propane tank holds about 23.6 gallons, equal to roughly 2,150,000 BTUs of energy. Running a 50,000 BTU heater continuously would use the tank in about 43 hours, but with thermostat cycling, most garage heaters run intermittently, extending a 100 lb tank's life to several weeks depending on insulation, outdoor temperatures, and usage patterns.

Vacuum-fired systems use an exhauster to draw combustion air through the tube, allowing longer runs and flexible venting for large spaces, while power-vented units use a fan to push exhaust out a shorter, direct vent path. Both are CSA certified and similarly efficient, but vacuum-fired designs suit larger buildings while power-vented units suit simpler installations.

BTU sizing depends on square footage, ceiling height, insulation, and local climate. Our heaters range from 30,000 to 250,000 BTU per unit, covering spaces from small service bays to warehouses over 1,000,000 square feet. Single-stage heaters operate at one fixed output, cycling on and off to maintain temperature. Dual-stage and modulating heaters adjust output between high and low fire based on demand, reducing energy waste and providing more consistent temperatures, especially useful in facilities with variable heating loads or fluctuating occupancy.

Stainless steel burner housings resist corrosion in humid, chemical, or wash-down environments like natatoriums, car washes, and plating shops. Powder-coated housings are cost-effective and well-suited for standard dry environments like typical service garages and warehouses. Both carry the same 10-year radiant tube warranty against internal corrosion.

Nearly all models in our lineup, including the Reflect-O-Ray, Omega II, and Synergy series, are available configured for either natural gas or LP/propane gas. Fuel type is selected at ordering, and inlet/manifold pressures are pre-set for the specified fuel, so confirm your gas supply type before placing an order.
